1.Who sells the subscription#

Paddle is our reseller

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders.

This means that you buy your subscription from Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, United Kingdom). Paddle takes the payment, charges the right VAT or sales tax, sends receipts and invoices, and handles refunds and payment questions. We provide the LingoVik service and answer questions about the app.

Paddle's Buyer Terms↗ (opens in a new tab) and Refund Policy↗ (opens in a new tab) apply to the purchase. This policy explains how it works for LingoVik. If this policy gives you more rights than Paddle's terms, you keep those extra rights.

VAT or sales tax is added according to the country you are in. Before you pay, the checkout shows the total price that you will pay, including tax. [LAWYER: price display to consumers — see README]
  • Prices are in US dollars (USD). If your bank account uses another currency, your bank may add a fee for the currency exchange.
  • The price that applies to you is the one shown in the checkout when you subscribe. See Price changes.

3.The 7-day free trial, step by step#

  1. Choose Monthly or Annual and start your free trial. Paddle's secure checkout opens.
  2. Enter a valid payment method. It is needed to start the trial, but nothing is charged during the trial.
  3. You get full access to LingoVik for 7 days.
  4. Before the trial ends, we send you an email that reminds you of the date of your first payment, the amount, and how to cancel. [CONFIRM: how many days before the trial ends]
  5. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing.
  6. If you do not cancel, Paddle takes the first payment when the trial ends. Your subscription then renews automatically until you cancel.

Each person can get one free trial. [CONFIRM: one trial per person]

Your legal right of withdrawal also covers the trial — see Your right of withdrawal.

4.Automatic renewal#

  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period — every month or every year — until you cancel.
  • Paddle takes the payment on the renewal date, with the payment method you gave.
  • You get a receipt from Paddle by email after each payment.
  • For the annual plan, we send you a reminder email before it renews. [CONFIRM: e.g. 14 days before — recommended, not built yet]

5.How to cancel#

  1. In LingoVik, go to Account → Subscription → Manage.
  2. Paddle's customer portal opens. Choose Cancel subscription and confirm.
  3. You get an email that confirms the cancellation.

You can also cancel at paddle.net↗ (opens in a new tab) with the email address you used to pay, or simply send us an email at support@lingovik.com. You do not need to give a reason.

  • When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, you are not charged again.
  • If you cancel during the free trial, you are not charged. [CONFIRM: does access continue until the trial ends, or end at once?]
  • Cancelling does not delete your account or your progress. You can subscribe again at any time.

6.Refunds#

Money-back promise [CONFIRM: money-back promise]

If you are not happy with LingoVik, you can get a full refund if you ask within 14 days after your first payment — the payment that is taken when your free trial ends.

  • Later payments (renewals): we do not normally refund a period that has already started, but you can cancel at any time to stop future payments. [CONFIRM: also refund annual renewals if asked within 14 days?]
  • When the law requires it, you always get a refund — for example when you use your right of withdrawal, or if the service has a serious fault that we do not fix.
  • If we see clear abuse — for example many refunds followed by new free trials — we may refuse a refund that the law does not require.

How to ask for a refund

  1. Go to paddle.net↗ (opens in a new tab), look up your order, and choose Request refund — or use the link in the receipt email from Paddle.
  2. Or email us at support@lingovik.com, and we help you.

Paddle pays the refund back to the payment method you used, normally within 14 days after the refund is approved. When you get a refund, your paid access ends.

7.Your right of withdrawal (angrerett)#

If you are a consumer, the law in Norway, the EU/EEA and the UK gives you the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days, without giving a reason. In Norwegian this is called angrerett.

  • During the free trial: you can withdraw — or simply cancel — at any time, and you pay nothing.
  • After the first payment: you can withdraw within 14 days after the trial has ended and the first payment has been taken. [LAWYER: by law the 14 days run from the day you start the subscription; this longer period follows Paddle's Refund Policy]
  • Renewals do not give you a new right of withdrawal — except UK annual subscriptions, which get a new 14-day period after each yearly renewal.

LingoVik starts at once when you subscribe: by starting the subscription, you ask us to start the service during the withdrawal period. The law then lets the seller keep an amount for the days you have used — but with our money-back promise, you get the full amount back. [CONFIRM: full refund, or a proportionate amount after the first payment?] [LAWYER: wording of the request to start the service early — angrerettloven §§ 19 and 26]

How to withdraw

  • Use the withdrawal option in Paddle's customer portal. Open it from Account → Subscription → Manage, from the link in your Paddle email, or at paddle.net↗ (opens in a new tab).
  • Or send a clear message to Paddle, or to us at support@lingovik.com. You can use the form below, but you do not have to.

Withdrawal form (you do not have to use it)

  • To: Paddle.com Market Limited, reseller and Merchant of Record for LingoVik, via paddle.net↗ (opens in a new tab) — or [YOUR FULL NAME OR COMPANY NAME], [POSTAL ADDRESS], Norway, support@lingovik.com
  • I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the following service: LingoVik subscription (Monthly / Annual)
  • Ordered on (date):
  • Your name:
  • Your address:
  • Email address used for the purchase:
  • Signature (only if you send this form on paper):
  • Date:

[LAWYER: confirm whether this form must name Paddle or LingoVik as the recipient, and whether the official Norwegian angreskjema must be offered as well]

8.If a payment fails#

  • If a payment fails — for example because your card has expired — Paddle tries again over the next days and emails you, so that you can update your payment method in the customer portal. [CONFIRM: Paddle retry schedule and grace period]
  • If the payment still fails, your subscription may be paused or cancelled, and paid access stops. Your account and your progress are kept.
  • You can update your payment method, or subscribe again, at any time.

9.Price changes#

  • We may change our prices, for example because our costs change or because we add features.
  • If the price of your subscription goes up, we or Paddle tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to you. [CONFIRM: notice period] [LAWYER: rules for price increases in running consumer subscriptions]
  • The new price applies from your next renewal after that notice. If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it applies.
  • Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before we charge the higher price.

10.Changing plans#

You can switch between Monthly and Annual in Paddle's customer portal (Account → Subscription → Manage). [CONFIRM: does the change happen at once with a prorated charge, or at the next renewal?]

11.Free access#

Some accounts have free access, for example given by our team. Free access is personal and cannot be sold or transferred. It may have an end date or other conditions, which we tell you about when we give it. With free access, you are not charged, and no payment method is needed.

12.Receipts, invoices and VAT#

  • Paddle sends you a receipt by email after each payment. You can also download invoices in the customer portal.
  • Buying for a business? You can enter your VAT number in the checkout, and Paddle applies the right tax rules, for example the reverse-charge rule. [CONFIRM: business purchases allowed]

13.Questions#

  • Payments, receipts, invoices and refunds: Paddle at paddle.net↗ (opens in a new tab), or the link in your Paddle email.
  • Everything else: support@lingovik.com.
